My Child has a Fever! What Do I Do?

When our children have fevers, it may be overwhelming, but must be addressed. A fever is a sign that the bodys immune response is fighting off an illness. 

What Temperature is a Fever?

100.4 or greater 

How do I treat the fever?

First step is giving medication to reduce the temperature. This includes Tylenol Or Motrin/Advil. 


Like prescription medicines, OTC ("over-the-counter") pain medicine such as Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen can be ineffective or dangerous if not administered in the correct way. The right dosage is very important. Talk with your child's doctor before giving your child any medicine, especially the first time.
